If you are a 2018 prospect in Central Texas that has yet to be offered a scholarship, fret not. Here are some things for you to do to meet such a goal no matter if you end up playing Division 1-A (FBS), Division 1-AA (FCS), Division 2, Division 3, NAIA, or JUCO football.
- Stay on top of your books to ensure that you will qualify academically.
- Make sure that your SAT's and ACT's are taken care of.
- Get a copy of your unofficial transcript from your high school counselor and hold on to it!
- Register with the NCAA and/or NAIA Eligibility Centers.
- REFRAIN FROM ALL ASPECTS OF FOOLISHNESS!
- Keep your film updated online where they can be viewed publicly (ie. Hudl, YouTube, etc.)
- During the season, post your highlight film link (weekly) on various social media outlets in order to get more college coaches' attention.
- It helps to have a very strong, consistent September (the first 4 to 5 games) in a dominating fashion on the field at your respective position to make noise early in the season, but be consistent all season long.
- SHOW UP BIG, IN BIG GAMES!
Recently graduated CenTex running back standout Davion Ford (Rockdale, '17) was once an overlooked prospect after having had a good junior year on the field while also running on the school's state champion 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams later in the Spring. Ford only used the recruiting slights to further fuel his inner drive and topped his junior year with a stellar senior campaign. He rushed for 1,600 yards and 31 TD's while adding 300 more yards in the receiving game with 2 more TD's. However, it wasn't about the stats he accumulated but the fact that he displayed the innate ability to always make big plays that it eventually earned him several scholarship offers late in the recruiting process leading him to sign a National Letter of Intent to the University of Houston.

REMEMBER, YOU STILL HAVE TIME! YOU JUST HAVE TO WANT IT BAD ENOUGH AND EXECUTE YOUR GOALS IN ORDER FOR BIG THINGS TO HAPPEN FOR YOU IN RECRUITING!
